In a modest studio nestled in Lalitpur, Lok Chitrakar teaches more than brush techniques. His students learn discipline, patience, and reverence — qualities fading in today’s fast-paced art scene.
“I don’t just train hands. I train minds to respect the tradition,” he says.
His school, Simrik Atelier, is part art academy, part sanctuary. Here, artists grind natural pigments, prepare canvas by hand, and chant before starting work — just like the old masters. Chitrakar hopes his efforts will ensure Paubha does not just survive — it flourishes in the right hands.
